Six weeks - school age

Caring, nurturing, loving - that's the Stepping Stones nursery environment. A team of qualified childcare professionals support the emotional and physical needs of all of the babies and toddlers within our nursery setting.

Essential information on the various aspects of each child's day, from eating to toileting and participation in play activities is shared with parents/carers via the Famly App. This ensures an accurate record is maintained of each child's progress. The App also enables direct communication with staff, allowing any issues relating to the child, to be raised discreetly.

Pre-Preschool

For children who turn three between July and December

Stepping Stones also offer pre-preschool care provision. This is suitable for any child who may turn three between the months of July and December (and therefore not in preschool intake). A tailored programme of activity and play assists with key developmental aspects relevant for this age group such as fine motor and colour recognition skills. The Famly App is used to provide daily updates on each pre-preschool child.

Preschool

For children born before 2nd July on the year that they turn three

Stepping Stones provides a number of Preschool places .

Stepping Stones' preschool runs from 9.00am - 11.30am, Monday - Friday and follows the teaching curriculum timetable, with periods of holidays at Christmas and Easter.

Children in Stepping Stones Preschool will be assigned a dedicated member of staff who will work directly with them to help them achieve their milestones. This individual will also conduct the child's assessments, provide feedback to their parents/carers and liaise with the health visitor undertaking the child's compulsory review. The Famly App is used to provide daily updates on key aspects of each child's day.

Stepping Stones also provides wrap around care and a collection service for children registered within a pre-school setting in Portstewart Primary School and St Colum's Primary School.

Afterschool Care

For children enrolled in Portstewart Primary School and St. Colum's Primary School, Portstewart

Stepping Stones provides Afterschool care in Portstewart Primary School and St. Colum's Primary School, Portstewart.

Trained childcare professionals schedule age appropriate, interactive, indoor and outdoor activities for children at each location.

Afterschool care is available Monday - Friday from 1.40pm - 6.00pm and mirrors the school calendar. A range of options can be booked from a waiting hour to full Afterschool care.

Summer Club

Compulsory school age - 12 years

Stepping Stones runs a Summer Club during the summer months of July and August, Summer Club is delivered by trained childcare professionals and is suitable for children of primary school age (children due to start P1 in September, right up to those currently enrolled in a P7 class can attend).

Summer Club runs from 01 July - 25th August, from 8.30am - 5.30pm, Monday - Friday.

A range of age appropriate indoor and outdooor activities are scheduled each day with a number of excursions also planned over the two-month period.
